Microsoft LifeCam is the free viewing software that comes packaged with Microsoft cameras for Windows PCs.

If you've got a camera, you'll probably what you want to view what you've recorded. You might even want to alter what's on the screen. A little bit of editing working is within the grasp of all computer users, even those who don't really want to use the software very often. While there's not a lot to praise with Microsoft LifeCam, there's also not a lot to complain about. This is free pack-in software, but at least it's pack-in software that actually works with the hardware it's made for.

This is pretty much as basic as viewing software gets. There are a few nice effects and basic editing tools, but there's nothing more. You're not going to make great movies with this software. Strictly speaking, you probably won't even make good YouTube videos. You will, however, edit your home movies with a bit of flair and even walk away feeling like you're competent with editing. In reality, you'll just master a few basic edits and you'll never think about them again. This isn't bad, though, as this software more than suits its purpose.

You probably wouldn't choose to buy Microsoft LifeCam, and that's fine. It works very well as a program that's packaged in with hardware. Don't give this one a lot of thought unless you have absolutely nothing else that works with your camera. This isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. Instead, it's just a nice and basic utility that will help you get the job done without confusing you. Can you really ask for more?
